Negros Island, the fourth biggest island in the Philippine, lies near the central part of the country.  It possesses a total land area of about 8 thousand square kilometers and a coastline stretching 800 kms. The province is composed of 13 cities and 19 municipalities with Bacolod City being the capital

Parts of the province are largely level plains and gently rolling slopes separated from its neighboring province of Negros Oriental by mountain ranges.  The most notable of these mountain ranges is Mount Kanlaon which is really famous among mountaineers enthusiasts.

The SALOMON XTRAIL RUN 2015 started at Bantug all the way to Campuestuhan and back via Carmen for the 24k.

Local tourism in Negros is very strong. In 2014, Negros Occidental   is second to Boracay with   1.2 million tourist arrivals while Boracay has 1.5 million .

Negros Occidental is endowed with beautiful natural scenery and attractions, rich historical and ethnic heritage as well as festivals and events that making the province  it an attractive tourist destination.

The province also provides many opportunities for leisure and adventure. Apart from the festivals which are celebrated almost every month in various parts of Negros Occidental  , events and  sports tourism is also getting its popularity.

One of the latest sports events  which was held in the province was the1st Salomon Xtrail Run with   Salomon Xtrail 101  Talked held last December 5 at Ayala Northpoint. The preliminary event  aimed to educate participants on trail running and prepare them for the race. The event was also the venue for DENR forest and wildlife protection information campaign. Mr.Jojo Bonnin was the guest speaker for Trail 101 and Rose Pablico of DENR .

Salomon race was held at Bantug Lake Ranch last December 13, 2015. The race started at exactly 6:00 am with the 24k running the course first, followed by 12k and last the 6k runners.  The course started at Bantug all the way to Campuestuhan and back via Carmen for the 24k. It was a very successful event with 230 runners from Bacolod, Cebu, MAnila, Iloilo, Tacloban. Toledo, Mabinay and San Carlos CIty. Running ambassador, blogger and Condura skyrunning Mr.Patrick Concepcion also was present and ran 12k. The event ended at around 12:00 noon with all runners crossing the finish line. Chinese Chamber Medics and ambulance were present to ensure the safety of the runners.

  1. I would have wanted to join events like this, but my eyes’ condition won’t permit me. Sigh! Congratulations to the winners!

  2. Joining a race is one of my goals this year. I wish I am there.

  3. Looks like a fun event to be part of. Glad it was a beautiful day, so you didn’t have to face extra challenges with the weather.

  4. I’ve been seeing the race via Pat Concepcion’s timeline. We almost always see each other on the races. I should join the Salomon Xtrail in Bacolod since I’ve joined the one in Pico and the one in Bataan.
